Practice Mindfulness Meditation – Obtain Better Levels of Relaxation

Mindfulness mediation is the practice of mediating while paying attention to how you are feeling at the time. It is all about being mindful about your current state. Many people practice this type of meditation with their eyes closed. This is the best way to do this as you are less likely to be distracted.

One important aspect to keep in mind is that mindfulness meditation is totally opposite of concentration. When a person is concentrating they are trying to tune out the surrounding noises, feelings in order to accomplish some task. When you practice this type of mediation you actually want to be fully aware of everything around you. Any sound, any breeze or sensation should be felt and experienced to the full.

Now one of the mistakes many people make when doing this is noticing every thought that comes into your head while mediating. This is a mistake as mindful meditation is supposed to allow you to notice that you are thinking yet not pay attention to every thought. Let each thought pass through as you continue.

The whole point here is to relax. Relaxation is the purpose of mindful meditation. You should allow yourself to let go and observe. Do not get caught up in every detail around you, just let them happen. Notice the extent of your existence in the Universe and let it pass through you. This is when you will begin to notice the benefits of this meditation. A feeling of well being should pass through you and a sense of peace.

Since this type of meditation is so very different from our day to day existence it can be very difficult to practice at first. This takes some time to get to a level of proficiency. Do not fret about this if it does not occur rapidly. Rather, be relaxed and do not spend so much energy trying to do this “right” as that would be contrary to the whole point.

If you really want to get good at this it is very important to find a teacher who has this skill mastered. In China or India it is common for first students to sit and meditate with a master. Maybe you could try and find a master in your area to help you obtain a higher level of consciousness.

Since this has been practiced in these countries for thousands of years it is wise to learn from those that have come before you. Clearly this will catch on in the United States eventually as the stresses of daily life will force people to look into this as a form of alternative medicine. The benefits of having a normal blood pressure and less stress will be a far cheaper alternative to expensive medications and procedures.

If you really want to get a more relaxed state of being regularly practicing mindful meditation can be very beneficial for you. By practicing this on a daily basis I am sure you will get to a much higher state of peace and calm as well as a higher state of consciousness within one year.  The more you practice this the quicker this state will come.

I began meditating about 6 months ago and the benefits are tremendous. I encourage everyone to get started.
